Thinkpad beeping
WebThe laptop lets off a loud beep when this happens. Then to the reason why I made this thread; just now the laptop started beeping very loudly, continuously for seconds, almost like a fire alarm, even though the laptop was wired up (being charged). In my panic I just held the power button to turn it off, hoping to prevent any hardware damage.

WebApr 7, 2024 · Hi All, I know that Lenovo has released an Android app to decode thinkpad DTMF Beep codes. But my ThinkPad T470 gives 4 beeps during first boot (non-DTMF), then it rebotts automatically and gives 2 Beeps (non-DTMF). Then nothing more happens. These beeps are not recognised by the App because they are not DTMF.

I think two short beeps is just a POST error, could be anything. I've seen Lenovo power supplies lose 5V, but there probably wouldn't be beeping without that. Checking all the cables would be something to do. Bad SATA cable might explain your other problem, and they can get rather brittle with age. butchers arms yatton
